Age 75 died unexpectedly on Friday, August 31, 2001.
Richard was born on January 19, 1926 the son of Reginald and Lorraine Sampson in Fond Du Lac, WI. Richard worked for Thilmany Pulp and Paper for 36 years until he retired in 1987. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was a member of the Kaukauna VFW. Richard was an avid fisherman, gardener and bowler. He enjoyed playing cards and watching sports.
Richard is survived by six children, Alan (Laura) Sampson, Defiance, Ohio; Ronald Sampson and special friend Sandy, Karen Miller, Craig (Deborah) Sampson, Sandra (Lloyd) Larson, and Kevin (Rene’) Sampson, all of Kaukauna; a former wife, Beverly School; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Six sisters and a brother, Nancy Rymer, Green Bay; Shirley (Arthur) Krenn, Jean (Ray) Brigham, Juliette Sippel, Sue (Lawrence) Caird, Carol (Gerald) Huck, and Darwin Sampson, all of Fond Du Lac.
Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Reginald and Lorraine Sampson; a son, Gary Sampson; two sisters, Beverly Essman and Eola Resop; two brothers-in-law, Robert Essman and Eugene Sippel; a niece and two nephews, Betty and Bob Essman, and Dickie Brigham.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. at Fargo Funeral Home 400 West Wisconsin Avenue with Rev. Dan Mitchell officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
