NIESEN, RICHARD J.
Richard Niesen, 51, of Appleton, died Saturday, December 31, 2005, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Richard was born March 3, 1954, in Appleton, to the late Michael and Ferol (Brown) Niesen. He married Debra Gunther on October 12, 1974, in Appleton. Richard was employed in roll servicing at Metso Paper since 1973.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Debra; his daughter, Jamie Niesen, Denver, Colo.; his son, Matthew Niesen, Appleton; his sisters, Saadia (Mohammed) Sallahudeen, New York City; Judi (David) Lindey, Dothan, Alabama; Lori (Michael) Paulson, Appleton, and Janet Shuck, Green Bay; his brothers, Charles Niesen, Waukesha, Thomas Niesen, Green Bay, and James Niesen, Appleton; his brother-in-law, Michael (Kay) Gunther, Appleton, and many nieces, nephews, and good friends.
Richard was well-known for his love of hunting, fishing, traveling, scuba diving, and the time spent at their cottage in Lakewood. He was also a member of the Winnegamie Dog Club.
The memorial mass for Richard will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2006, at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 312 South State Street, with Father Michael O’Rourke as celebrant. Friends may call directly at the church from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until the time of mass.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Craig Hospital in Denver, Colorado and the nursing staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital for their loving care.
