Richard F. Dorschner

November 4, 1932 — December 16, 2006

Dorschner, Richard Frederick "Dick"
Brewster Village, Appleton

Richard, 74, passed away peacefully early on the morning of December 16, 2006 with family at his side. Dick was born on November 4, 1932, to the late Joseph A. and Marie H. (Stuyvenberg) Dorschner in the Town of Harrison. Dick attended Appleton High School and worked for the Shoe Corporation of America until his retirement in 1995.
On March 12, 1952 he married his high school sweetheart, Nancy A. Stevens, in Madison, WI. Together, they had 5 children. They enjoyed over 52 years of marriage before he lost Nancy on Sept. 7, 2004. Their love for each other was one of the most wonderful things we had the good fortune to witness. Dick and Nancy enjoyed their getaways to Las Vegas over the years in which they had worn down many slot machine handles.
He was an avid Packers fan who watched them whenever they played and enjoyed Nascar races with his grandson Troy. We will also miss his annual Flag Day Parade gatherings at his house. Dick was involved with his children’s activities with the Americanos Drum and Bugle Corps in the 1970’s with chaperoning, bingo calling, and being on their Board of Directors.
Dick was a great and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. With Nancy, they made us a close and strong family. He is survived by his children: Bruce “Rick” (Susan), Town of Clayton; Randy (Bill) Alford, Appleton; Scott (Linda), Kaukauna; Dale “Chip” (Dawn), Neenah; and Jacque (Jim) Derfus, Appleton; his grandchildren: Troy; Chris (special friend Jacque), Jason (Fay), Sarah, Nathaniel (Tiffany), Sandy, Gary; Lance (special friend Holly), Jessica (special friend Adam), Stephanie; Joshua and Zachary; and his great grandchildren: Brandon, Alex; Savannah, Sadie, Elizabeth, Natalie; Kiera, and Khalil He is further survived by his brothers and sisters: Margie (Leo) Hughes, Appleton; Helen Ryan, Appleton; Robert "Bob", Neenah; Roger, Clintonville; and Karen (Chuck) Briggs, Appleton; brothers and sisters in law: Janice (Skip) Guernsey, Hortonville; Shirley Stevens, Appleton; Joyce Stevens, Appleton; Patricia "Pat" Woicek, Madison; and Chuck Benjamin, Jacksonville, Fl.; and Nancy’s cousin Jean (Jim) Courtney, Kimberly. Besides his parents and wife, Dick was preceded in death by his brothers: James and Ronald; his sisters: Fern Dorschner, Rose Heller, sisters and brothers in law: Corrine Dorschner, Betsy Benjamin, Dorotha and Curtis Stevens, Mike Heller, Mike Woicek, Melville Ryan, John "Dick” Stevens, Jim Stevens and a great-grandchild, Olivia.

Per Dick’s request, there will be no services or burial.

Our family would like to thank the nurses and aides at Brewster Village for taking such great care of our father during his stay there.
Dad, you will be loved and missed by all of your family and your “furry” grandchildren. Mom is there waiting with open arms. Give her a kiss for us.
