Richard M. Eslinger, 64, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023, from cancer. He was born on March 1, 1959, in Kaukauna, the son of James and Luella Eslinger. He attended school at Gerrits Junior High and Kimberly Senior High, graduating in 1977. Rick enjoyed holidays, camping, and hunting. Later, he joined the US Army, and was honorably discharged in 1981. He then worked for Thilmany Pulp and Paper Company for many years; alongside his stepfather, Jerome L. Saurbeir. After Thilmany, Rick worked some odd jobs until his health no longer permitted it.
Richard will be remembered for his love and kindness towards Justin Head who he treated like a son over the years, even helping Justin achieve his dreams of racing motocross, as his mechanic and pit crew. Rick taught Jaden, Justin’s son, to drive a car and helped him obtain his driver’s license. Jaden and Rick shared a special bond over their musical tastes of the Beatles and Eagles and love of visiting haunted houses. Rick enjoyed spending time with his special friend, Karen Miller.
Rick is survived by his two brothers: James (Lori) Eslinger and Jerry (Amber) Saurbeir; a sister: Sharon (Bonnie) Eslinger; his stepfather, Jerome Saurbeir; a sister-in-law: Sara Eslinger, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and many cousins.
Rick was preceded in death by his grandparents; father: James Eslinger; mother: Luella (Lom) Eslinger Saurbeir; and two brothers: Thomas and Kenneth Eslinger; and other family members he loved.
Rick had many friends in his lifetime, including Bear, his beloved black lab, and two very special friends whom he could always count on. Thank you for your kindness and thoughtfulness. And, thanks to all the doctors, nurses, and hospice workers who cared for Rick.
