Utley, Richard E.
Richard E. Utley, age 83, of Menasha, died peacefully at his home, Thursday evening, August 23, 2007. He was born August 25, 1923, to the late Claude and Iva Mae (Moore) Utley, in Rector Arkansas and graduated from high school in East St. Louis, IL. Dick attended Ripon College with the U. S. Army ASTP. While in the Army he was stationed in China, Burma and India, during WW II. Following his discharge, Dick was employed by Banta until his retirement in 1980. He was a life long Elks member, a life long Cardinal fan and enjoyed playing cards, bowling and golf. He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Doyle) Utley, to whom he had been married for 63 ¬Ω years; four children, Carol Sue Smith, Surprise, AZ; Paula (Stephen) Salamone, Reno, NV; William Ross Utley, Menasha; Jeffrey K. Utley, Oshkosh; 12 grandchildren, Jamie Sue (Chad) Lausman, Matthew Ray (Jo Ellen) Smith, Seth Adam Smith, Dr. Joshua (Bambi) Smith, Jesse Westenberger, Greggory James Westenberger, Christopher Utley, Niles Utley, Bryan Utley, Jared Utley, Sarah (Bret) Franz and Emily Tesch; nine great grandchildren, Justine Darling, Madeleine Marie Smith, Nicholas Smith, Owen and Jonathan Smith, Christopher Jr, and Katherine Marie Utley, Autumn Marie Utley, Julyan Westenberger; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, James Richard Utley, his step-father, Leonard Smith, a brother Jay Utley, a half-brother, Van Smith and a half-sister, Arneda Blockley. There will be an Elks service, at 7:00 pm, Thursday, August 30, 2007 at the funeral home. Friends may call at the funeral home 1 hour prior to the time of the service, on Thursday. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established.
