Richard “Dick” Casperson passed away peacefully with Jackie at his side after a struggle with Parkinson's disease and congestive heart failure. He was born March 25, 1936, to Edward Casperson and Marcella (Ponkratz) Casperson. He graduated from Appleton West high school and went on to radio school after which he worked at WHBY in Appleton as well as stations in California and Ohio. Dick served in the army for two years. He also spent some time in sales and then worked at Miller Electric in advertising for twenty years until his retirement at age 60.
Dick and Jackie were married in 1977, blending their two families, and he was a wonderful Dad to all six children, and a loving husband to Jackie for forty-six years.
Dick is survived by children: John Casperson, Rob (Merry) Casperson, Karen (Chuck) Farah, Jon (Shari) Huhn, Mark (Kim) Huhn, Ellen (Al) Bock. He was Grandpa to Ashly Casperson, Nicole Frederich, Mitchell Casperson, Alex (Amanda) Farah, Abby Farah, Michelle (Zach) McMurray, Molly Huhn, Alex Sauer, Llana Crego, Emily (Kurt) McCabe and Jared Crego. There are also thirteen great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Dick enjoyed woodworking, trap shooting, grouse hunting, his hunting dogs, traveling with Jackie and spending time with Jackie at their cabin up north. Dick also served two terms on the Appleton city council, and after retirement, volunteered his time and skills on the senior crew with Habitat for Humanity while his health permitted.
He is survived by Jackie, brother-in-law Dick Roeland, sister-in-law Carla Casperson. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an infant son, brother Ronald Casperson, and sister-in law Rose Roeland.
Per Dick’s wishes, there will be a private celebration of his life.
Memorial gifts will be donated to Habitat for Humanity.
Special thanks to Compassus Hospice, Pastor Eric, Sue V, and my wonderful neighbors for their care and help.
