Raymond G. Zimmerman
Age 80
Of Crivitz, passed away unexpectedly on February 26, 2004 at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Green Bay. He was born March 1, 1923 to the late George and Emma (Guenther) Zimmerman.
Ray married Gwen Wallace on July 19, 1972 in Sitka, Alaska. On October 1, 1942 he enlisted in the Navy where he attended diesel school at Columbian the University of MO. He saw duties in Milne Bay, New Guinea, Hollandia, and Morotai in the Dutch East Indies and at the time he was the youngest Chief Motor Machinist. He worked for Valley Iron Works, Combined Locks Paper Company, and in October of 1969 he moved to Sitka Alaska and worked for Alaska Lumber & Pulp for 10 years. In 1980 he and his wife moved to Manistique, MI where he worked for Manistique Papers as the Plant Engineer for 12 years. After retirement he and his wife moved to Crivitz, WI where he took great joy in cutting his lawn, tending to his garden and playing with his dogs.
Ray is survived by his wife, Gwen Zimmerman; five sons: Eugene (Adele) Zimmerman, Glen (Linda) Zimmerman, Al (Kathy) Zimmerman, Terry (Jan) Zimmerman and Paul Zimmerman; ten grandchildren: Shayne (Matt) Clausen, Chris (Laura) Zimmerman, Ryan Zimmerman, Melissa Zimmerman, Adam, Corey and Brandon Zimmerman, Tyler (Melissa) Zimmerman, Stefanie and Nicole Zimmerman; two sisters: Joyce (Don) Perry of Bellaire, MI and Margie Zimmerman of Lincoln, NE. Besides his parents, one brother Kenneth Zimmerman precede him in death.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, February 29, 2004 at the funeral home at 3:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM until the time of services. Entombment will take place in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Appleton.
