Raymond “Ray” Bonfigt, age 80, of Kimberly, passed away on July 14, 2022 after a brief illness. Ray was born on September 20, 1941 to the late Ben and Dolores (Hall) Bonfigt in Mishicot, Wisconsin. He was a graduate of Mishicot High School. After graduation he attended and graduated from Fox Valley Technical School in Appleton. He served his country honorably, stationed in Korea after the war as a member of the U.S. Army. After his discharge he was a member of the American Legion, Post 60 in Kimberly. He was employed with Thilmany Paper for a time, and after Thilmany was sold, he chose to work at Fox Valley Technical Institute as a Computer Programmer Analyst.
On May 11, 1963 he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Jean Zur and they enjoyed 59 years together raising their family. He was a devoted member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Kimberly as well as being a member of the Knights of Columbus for 47 years.
Ray loved time with his children, grandchildren, and family. When his grandkids were learning to drive his advice for them was to “Put the pedal to the metal”. Ray loved fishing, bowling, playing sheephead and going to Friday Night Fish Fries.
He is survived by his wife Mary, children: Mark (Shannon) Bonfigt, Teresa (friend Tom Dell) Nabbefeld, Paul (Paula) Bonfigt, and Marie (Damon) Voights, grandchildren: Alexandria and Marek Bonfigt, Ryan Koury, Mathew Nabbefeld, Jennifer (Brent) Brooks, and Patrick Nabbefeld, Michaela, Aaron and Olivia Bonfigt, and Elizabeth, Emma and Mya Voights, great-grandchildren: Aidan Verhagen, William Ison, and Zac Brooks, siblings: Alice Bonfigt, twin Frank (Pat) Bonfigt, Robert Bonfigt, and Benedict (Norma) Bonfigt as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters-in-law Sharon and Charlotte Bonfigt.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 600 East Kimberly Avenue in Kimberly on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at 11:00am with Fr. Carl Schmitt officiating. There will be a visitation at the church Wednesday morning from 10:00am to 11:00am. Interment will be at Holy Name Cemetery in Kimberly.
