Raymond Alfred Grassl Sr, 73 years, passed away December 5, 2018. He was born on July 7, 1945 to George and Hilda Grassl (Zeller) in Marshfield, Wisconsin. He grew up on a farm in Auburndale, Wisconsin. Ray graduated from Auburndale High School. He married Susan Jeske in 1968. They had four children Ray Grassl Jr, George Grassl, Mary Grassl and Mike (Lisa) Grassl. They divorced in 1995.
Ray worked for Consolidated Papers as a welder for 36 years. He could fix anything and was always building something. He loved the outdoors and could spend all day at the range with his buddies.
Ray was a member of the Army National Guard for over 15 years. He was past-officer of the Vesper Wisconsin American Legion.
He was very active at St. James Catholic Church. He loved to teach CCD and play the guitar in church. Fr. Bob knew Ray would unlock the church for all of the Masses.
Ray is survived by his children, wife Mary Ann Grassl, stepdaughters Jennifer (Ian) Miller, Melissa Salm, and Sandra (Chris) Dowds, sisters Kathy (Joe) Walters, Karen (Mike) Jeske, Diane (Lennie) Kremmer, Donna (Mike) Jeske and a brother Myron Grassl.
Ray’s legacy is his grandchildren: Evan, Kayli, Marc, Amaia, Michael, Isabella, Joseph, Brooke, Julia, Jade and Delilah.
There will be a private family service at a later date.
