Ralph Mendez, of Appleton, died at Brewster Village at the age of 64. Ralph was born in Beloit on September 25, 1941, son of the late Henry and Maria (Guzman) Mendez. He married the former Faith Paape on July 6, 1975 in Appleton; she survives. Many will remember Ralph as the maintenance man at the VFW Clubhouse in Appleton, as well as at the Post Crescent in later years. He also worked at Valley Packaging. Ralph had his health problems over the years, but never let them get him down. He was always a faithful employee and dedicated worker. Ralph enjoyed watching television and sharing his Mexican recipes with relatives and friends.

Ralph is survived by his wife: Faith Mendez of Appleton; a daughter: Maria (Dan) Thompson of Appleton and their daughters Tia and Isabella; a brother: Robert (Mary) Mendez of Vinita, OK; a sister: Eloisa Van Eperen of Appleton; three sisters-in-law: Frances Mendez of Salem, IL; Susan (Bill) Grolemund of Pace, FL; and Marcy (Dennis) Fehrman of Rothschild; a brother-in-law: Mark (Beth) Paape of Kaukauna; and his mother-in-law: Elizabeth Paape of New London. Ralph is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Alphonso and Charles, sisters Caroline and Eloisa, and his father-in-law Earl Paape.

Funeral services for Ralph will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, April 23, 2006 at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior Street, with Rev. Leon Knitt officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 PM until the hour of the services.
