Phyllis Barbara Bouchard (Herrmann) age 87 of Appleton, WI passed away on July 2, 2024. She was born to Rudolph and Emma (Leuders) Herrmann on June 16, 1937 in Appleton, WI. She graduated from Appleton (West) High School with the class of ’56 and went on to work not only for the Banta Corporation for over 20 years, but also devoted her life to being a full-time mother for the rest of her working career. Phyllis met the love of her life, Ronald Brian Bouchard in Downtown Appleton. They were married in June of 1956 and together, they raised 3 wonderful children.
Phyllis had a truly nurturing spirit and was a kind, motherly figure to anyone who needed it. She spent most of her free time volunteering at AMC in the cancer ward and making afghans for patients. Phyllis also loved traveling when she could, especially camping with her friends and family. She enjoyed baking and cooking. She was well-known for her chocolate chip cookies, scotcheroos, and apple pies, but her ham gravy was also a family favorite at holiday get-togethers. You could almost always find Phyllis around the neighborhood on a long walk, bike ride, or just generally staying active. She was a big fan of Wisconsin sports and always cheered on the Packers or the Brewers whenever they played. More than anything, though, she loved her family and was so proud of the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren she helped to raise.
Phyllis will be deeply missed by her children, Ron Jr. (Theresa), Cheri (Rich), Mike (Diane); her grandchildren, Elizabeth, Katie, Jennifer (Jeff), Stephanie (Josh), Korah, Samuel, Andrew (Juli), and Ashley (Eric); and her great-grandchildren, Rilyn, Hailey, Carter, Everly, McKoy, Kinsley, Jackson, Maya.
In heaven, Phyllis joins her loving husband, Ron; and two great-grandchildren she can finally hold in her arms.
A funeral visitation will be held for Phyllis on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 from 10-11 AM at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St, Appleton, WI 54911 with a private family service to follow at 11 AM. Phyllis will be laid to rest with her husband, Ron at Highland Memorial Park following the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the American Cancer Society in honor of Phyllis.
Phyllis’ family would like to extend a special thanks to the Aspire Senior Living nursing staff, Heidi, Debbie, the nurses Lana and Desiree from Moments Hospice, and Patty from Community Care for their care and compassion shown to Phyllis during her time of need.
