Philomene V. Skalmusky

Age 87 died on Wednesday, December 17, 2003 at Manor Care Health Services in Appleton. She was born on May 7, 1916 to the late Emil and Laura (DeGuardo) Giordana. Phil married Rudolph E. Skalmusky who preceded her in death. She was a lifetime resident of Kaukauna and worked a number of years at a local grocery store. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and St. Mary Catholic Church. Phil volunteered as a cook at St. Mary’s and also at the St. Paul Home gift shop.

She is survived by two sons: Gerald Skalmusky of Milwaukee and Ronald Skalmusky of Shawano; four grandchildren: Tara Schuh of Kaukauna, Trisha Skalmuskyof San Diego, California, Amy (Alsamo) Pontis of Brazil, and Todd (Nikki) Skalmusky of Kaukauna; six great grandchildren: Alana and Kyle Schuh and their father, Brian; Jonathan and Madison Skalmusky; Ashley and Dakota Grissman; her brothers and sisters: Sister Jilene Giordana of Racine, Mary Hubert of Kaukauna, Frank (Florence) Giordana of Kaukauna, James (Sally) Giordana of Kenosha, Robert Giordana of Kaukauna, Richard (Sally) Giordana of Kaukauna, and Janice (Robert) Hammond of Kaukauna; three sisters-in-law: Lorraine Giordana, Dolores Giordana, and Donna Giordana, all of Kaukauna. She is further survived by her special friends: Mary Jo and Gary Whitney and their children: Andrea and Adam as well as JoAnn Lauterborn.

She was preceded in death by her husband Rudy, an infant daughter Marie Skalmusky, a daughter-in-law Jeannie Skalmusky, brothers Emil, Carl and Joseph Giordana, a sister Lucille (Walter) Schmidt, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Chester (Esther) Laux, Julia (Everett) Driessen, Olive (Melvin) Skalmusky, Pope Giordana, and Henry Hubert.

The funeral liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 22, 2003 at ST MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 119 W. 7th Street in Kaukauna with Fr. Robert Udulutsch, OFM Cap. officiating. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
