Peter William Beck, Sr. , age 94, died Thursday, June 22 at Fox River Assisted Living & Memory Care Community. Peter was born in Eau Claire, WI. on October 8, 1911 to the late Peter W. and Gertrude (Crabbe) Beck. Peter married Lucille Phillips on October 19, 1946 who preceded him in death in 1987. Peter and Lucille moved from Eau Claire to Hot Springs Village, AR in 1977 where he has maintained a residence until his death.

Peter graduated from Eau Claire High School and Purdue University – School of Engineering. He served in the Army Air Force during WWII and was awarded a Bronze Star. He retired in 1972 as Vice President of Sales for Northern States Power Company. He was active in his church and various civic organizations which included: Boy Scouts of America, Eau Claire YMCA, University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire, University of Wisconsin – Stout, Rotary International, Lions Club, Eau Claire Bi-centennial Committee, Christ Church Cathedral – Eau Claire, and Village United Methodist Church – HSV.

Peter is survived by his children: Peter (Marlene) Beck of Appleton, WI and Barbara (Richard) Gilbertsen of Ann Arbor, MI; grandchildren: Peter Beck IV (his special friend Stacy Miller) of Appleton, WI, Kelly Beck of Milwaukee, WI, Eric Gilbertsen (his fiancée Jessica Chasen) of Washington, DC and Dana Gilbertsen of Washington, D.C.; and goddaughter: Susan Kraebber.

Peter will be remembered for his eternal optimism, humor and love for life, family, country, and his fellow man. To those that knew him, he was a very special person.

The family extends its appreciation to the administration and staff of Fox River Assisted Living & Memory Care Community who provided him a wonderful “home away from home”. Their exceptional love, comfort, and support throughout his stay shall always be remembered.

The family wishes to thank Theda Care At Home Community Hospice Program for their support to Peter and his family.

A memorial service will be held in Hot Springs Village, AR later this summer at the Village United Methodist Church. A memorial fund has been established in his name. Contributions may be sent to the family.
