Age 87, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 13, 2001 at Parkside Care Center in Little Chute with his family at his side. Peter was born on November 6, 1913 in Rosmalen, The Netherlands, son of the late Petrus and Antonella (Vandenberg) Van Nuland. The family emigrated to America in 1920. Peter was married to Frances Van Lankvelt on November 8, 1939 at St. John Catholic Church in Little Chute. He was employed at the Kimberly – Clark Paper Mill for forty-three years. Peter served in the United States Naval Service from 1943 – 1946, and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Post #18, the Kimberly – Clark Quarter Century Club, the Kimberly Golden Agers, and Holy Name Parish.
Peter is survived by his wife of sixty-one years: Frances Van Nuland of Kimberly; a son: David Van Nuland of Darboy; four grandsons: Craig Van Nuland of Minneapolis; Robert (Margareta) Van Nuland and their children Jacob, Danielle, and Ryan of La Crosse; Daryl (Laura) Van Nuland and their children Samuel and James of Mansfield, Massachusetts; and Brian Van Nuland of Denver. Peter is also survived by sisters-in-law Dorothy (Casey) Lamers of Kimberly, Margaret (Rainer) Depies of Green Bay, Angela (Leo) Campbell of Hilbert, by brothers-in-law Henry (LaVerne) Van Lankvelt of Little Chute, Peter (Lorraine) Van Lankvelt of Little Chute, Bernard (Janet) Van Lankvelt of Neenah, and Philip (Shirley) Van Lankvelt of Kaukauna. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Anton, and sisters Jane Van Krey, Woultera Bekkers, and Elizabeth Vander Wielen.
The funeral liturgy for Peter will be held at 5:00 PM on Friday, February 16, 2001 at HOLY NAME CATHOLIC CHURCH, 600 E. Kimberly Avenue in Kimberly with Fr. Dennis Bergsbaken officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Friday from 3:00 PM until the hour of the liturgy.
