Age 16, died on Saturday, September 29, 2001, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton, due to complications from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Peter was born on November 1, 1984, in Appleton to James and Wanda (Shepard) Subert. Bud was a junior at Appleton East High School. He loved animals. Bud's companion was his dog Ruffie; his cats were named Tigger, Sammy and Kitty; and his fish Jaws, the fish. He was a Jeff Gordon fan; was a computer whiz; enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and campfires up north; enjoyed being with people; and also enjoyed watching the Learning Channel and the Discovery Channel. Survivors include his parents; his sister Katie and brother Chris, at home; his maternal grandparents, Harold (Doris) Shepard, Shiocton; his paternal grandparents, Richard (Janice) Subert, Athelstane; his paternal great grandmother, Francis Subert, Appleton; his aunts and uncles, Mary Shepard, New London; Harold (Bette) Shepard, Jr., Shiocton; Gary (Diane) Shepard, Shiocton; Jackie (Roger) Vick, Godmother, Appleton; his cousins, Dan (Shana) Shepard, Godfather, Bear Creek; Mike (Cassie) Shepard, Shiocton; Morgan Shepard, Prescott, Arizona; Kristy Shepard, serving in the U.S. Navy in Florida; Angela Shepard (special friend, Tom), Shiocton; and Ryan Vick, Appleton. He was preceded in death by his great grandfather, Edward Subert; his cousin, Brandon Shepard, his maternal great grandparents, John (Rosemary) Kuse; and his great uncle, LeRoy Kuse. He is further survived by his great aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 3, 2000, at the FIRST CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH OF CHRIST, 724 East South River Street, Appleton, with Rev. Jane Weeden officiating. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Menasha, on Tuesday, October 2, 2001, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and directly at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in South Maine Cemetery, Shiocton. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. John Swanson and his nurse Donna for always being there; and to Molly, Terry Kuse, and all his friends at Appleton East for their loving support.
Bud, you will be dearly missed. Mom and Dad, Chris and Katie, and family.
