Bero, Peter John

Peter John Bero, age 16, of Appleton, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee after a two year battle with leukemia. He died with his mother, father and brother at his side. Peter was born on April 26, 1990 in Appleton, WI.
Peter is survived by his parents, John and Vicki; and his older brother, Jimmy. He is also survived by his paternal grandfather, Bill Bero, Jr. and his wife Betty Wohlers, Waupaca; maternal grandparents Keith and Pauline Kohlman, Waupaca/North Fort Myers, FL; aunts and uncles, Pat Bero and Paul Theyel, Wautoma; Colleen and Curt Sponberg, Center City, MN; Bill and Patty Bero, Appleton; David Bero, Guam; Keith Kohlman, Appleton; David and Beth Kohlman, Port Charlotte, FL; and Lori and Larry Bauer, Waupaca. Cousins Hans Sponberg,(Sarah); Hanna Sponberg; Brian and Dawn Theyel; Kate, Carrie and Daniel Bero, Kathy Kohlman; Sean, Jesse and Bret Nelson.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Mary Bero.
Peter was a junior at Appleton West High School and was an excellent student, earning highest honors even while going through his chemo treatments. He was also a member of Boy Scout Troop 57. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing at the cottage in Waupaca, boating, playing capture the flag, fireworks, building things and playing video games with his friends. He loved spending time in the woods up north.
Peter will be missed by all who knew him. He taught us much about life through his strength and courage.

The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2006, at 5:00 PM, at First United Methodist Church of Appleton, 325 E. Franklin St. Appleton, WI., with Rev. David Brice officiating. Friends may call directly at the church starting at 1:00 PM until the time of service. Memorial funds will be established to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Leukemia-Lymphoma Society and the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.
