Peter F. Van Heertum

Formerly of Kimberly, age 72, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2002 at Calumet Medical Center in Chilton. He was born on December 11, 1929 in Louisville, Kentucky the son of the late Peter and Nellie (Vander Wielen) Van Heertum. He was a member of the class of 1949 Kimberly High School. Peter was a salesman in the Appleton area in the 1950’s and 1960’s; and he retired from Appleton Papers in 1991 after 24 years. After retirement, Peter lived in Lakewood, Wisconsin, and Lakeland Florida. On March 17, 1998 he married Nancie Post in Lakeland Florida. He was an accomplished accordian player and enjoyed entertaining his family and friends. He was an eight year member of the National Guard Red Arrow Division, 127th Infantry, Wisconsin 32nd Division, Company D.
Survivors include his wife Nancie of Lakeland, Florida, his children Mary (Joe) Collar, James (Carol) Van Heertum, Pat (Jeff) Plamann all of Menasha, and Joseph Van Heertum (special friend Terry Isbel) of Kaukauna; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; his brother Richard (Peggy) Van Heertum of Lakeland, Florida; two nephews of Appleton; his godmother Marie Van Nuland of Kimberly, and his aunt Johanna Vanden Berg of Richmond, Michigan. Peter is also survived by numerous cousins in the United States and Holland.
A memorial service will be conducted on Monday, October 14, 2002 at 7:00 PM at the Jansen-Fargo Funeral Home in Kimberly. Interment will take place at Holy Name Catholic Cemetery in Kimberly. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 PM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established for the Salvation Army of Calumet County, 16 West Main Street, Chilton, WI 53014.
