Age 82, died on Sunday, January 05, 2003 at Appleton Medical Center. Pearl was born on January 14, 1920, daughter of the late Otto and Mildred (Froemming) Fredericks. On August 15, 1942, Pearl married Rev. Clarence Knoespel, and they enjoyed over 52 years of marriage together, until he preceded her in death in 1994. Pearl was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. She sang in the choir and played in the hand bell choir. Pearl was also a State Officer in the United Methodist Women’s Group. She had an extreme love of sports, especially baseball. Pearl was an excellent softball player, and was an All Star center fielder, playing for the Fox River Paper Softball Team. She also loved traveling, crafts, gardening and playing dart ball. Pearl had a great sense of humor, and enjoyed playing practical jokes on people. She is survived by her son, Michael, Appleton; her sister, Betty Brown, Sherwood, Wisconsin; sisters-in-law, Florence Stevenson; Ruth, Doris, Delores and Esther Knoespel; Gladys Oskey; and her brother-in-law, Roy (Lois) Knoespel. Pearl is further survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, January 9, 2003 at EMMANUEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 740 East College Avenue, Appleton, with Rev. David Kalas and Rev. Lynn K. Kollath officiating. The interment will be held at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Friends and family will be received at the church on Thursday, January 9, from 9 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Pearl’s name. Pearl was a very loving, social and outgoing person, and she will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
