Age 82, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2001 at Peabody Manor. She was born on January 26, 1919 in Appleton the daughter of the late George and Ida (Kirk) Leinwander. She was united in marriage to Leonard Gerrits for 45 years. She was a lifetime member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. Pearl had many varied interests including playing cards, going to powerboat races, and volunteering in the voting polls and the board of the parks department, and school board of Grand Chute. She especially enjoyed watching her grandson’s soccer games
She is survived by her son Leonard (Julie) Gerrits, Jr., her grandson Leonard Gerrits III all of Appleton, her sisters Geraldine LaBore and Betty (Jim) Cutler all of Appleton, and a special family friend Leone Borne of Appleton, seven nieces and nephews Jim (Jan) Schroeder of Neenah, David (Diane) Schroeder of Appleton, Shari (Warren) Scheibe of Janesville, Carol (Dan) Hedtke of Kimberly, Janette (Paul) Domke of Janesville, Kari (Bill) Drecktrah of Appleton, and Casey (Kyle) Korth and their children Dylan and Kendall all of Appleton, Janis Gerrits, and Wendy (Bill) Crawford all of Virginia, and Connie (Byron) Johnson of Arizona, Doug Martin of Colorado, Robert Gerrits of Texas, Don (Diane) McCallum of Stoughton, and Jeff Gerrits of Waupun, Brian Gerrits, and Tom (Joy) Martin all of Florida, and many great nieces and nephews; her sisters-in-law Bea Gerrits of Appleton, and Gerri Gerrits of Nevada. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leonard, and her sister Bernice Leinwander; her sister and brother-in-law Lucille (Clarence) Schroeder, her brothers-in-law Dick LaBore, Adrian Gerrits, Edward Gerrits, Jim Gerrits, and Paul Gerrits, and Edward Gerrits; and a niece Jean Gerrits.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, March 24, 2001 at 11:00 AM at ST. PAUL EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH 302 North Morrison Street, with the Rev. Ralph C. Waack officiating. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home on Friday from 4-8 PM, and on Saturday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established.
