Appleton

Paula J. (Cotter) Manteufel, age 62, passed away unexpectedly on September 24, 2024.

Paula was born to the late Virginia Ann Schermitzler and James Clarence Cotter on February 28,1962 in the city of Appleton.

She graduated from Appleton West High School, Class of 1980, and furthered her education later in life at Fox Valley Technical College receiving an associate degree in accounting.

Paula worked for many years at Toys “R” Us before she took an accounting position at Fox Valley Tech in the Criminal Justice Department. She was very proud of the work she did with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Paula was a free spirit with a golden heart, known well for her infectious laugh. Fueled by her passion to create a life rich in fun and adventure, she purchased a motorcycle and took up riding with friends. She loved all animals which led to many unique pets and a healthy obsession with Giraffes. She was extremely proud of her dream home she purchased just by writing a letter to the owner and asking if they were willing to sell it. She displayed that letter proudly by her front door. She never missed a chance to sing “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor at any karaoke opportunity. She will forever be our Precious Wildflower.

Paula is survived by her Children: daughter, Ashley (Brian) Vickman, son, Andrew (Fiancé Alicia) Manteufel; Grandchildren: Kayden, Wyatt, Natalie; Brother: Dan (Deb) Cotter; step siblings, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Preceding her in death are her parents: Virginia (Bob) Schermitzler and James (Donna) Cotter; The father of her children: Mike Manteufel; her special sister-in-law: Cindy Lemmers and her beloved canine companion: PD (Paula’s Dog)

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Stone Toad, Menasha, on October 12th, 2024, from 2-6pm.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her Cardiovascular Care Team as well as her best friend Tracy Walkowski who was always there.

“Her laughter echoes in our hearts, a melody that will never part”
