d. April 10, 2025

Appleton

Patricia “Pat” (Nave) Nelson passed away surrounded by her loving family on April 10, 2025, at the age of 75.

Pat was born in Fairmont, MN to Gene and Phyllis (Peterson) Nave. It was in Fairmont where she met the love of her life, Doug, and they were best friends from 10th grade. While attending the University of Minnesota, Pat and Doug married and, after graduating, they moved to Maryland, where Doug was stationed with the US Army. The couple returned to Minnesota. Pat then got her second degree, in dental hygiene, and worked while Doug finished dental school. They settled in Appleton, WI, with their two children, where they worked together until Pat retired after a fulfilling 36-year career. Pat was active at First Congregational Church, UCC, until the covid pandemic and health problems limited her participation. She treasured her time with the Chrysalis group, Strong Bodies, and enjoying friends while putting together church bulletins. She was a member of AAUW and enjoyed the dinner parties and, as long as she was able, helped on the book sales.

Pat is survived by her devoted husband, Doug Nelson; her daughter Emily (James) McLaughlin; her son Ben (Rachel) Nelson; and her five wonderful grandchildren: Owen, Molly, Aubrey, Nora, and Evan. She is also survived by her sisters Kathy Renken, Jill (Ken) Oeschle, Jodi (Joe) Belaski, and a brother, Scott (Gayle) Nave, along with extended family, and dear friends.

The family is grateful to the doctors and nurses on the 7th floor of ThedaCare Hospital in Appleton for their caring support and compassion during Pat's illness.
