Patricia “Treeci” Nelson, 93, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2025. She was born on February 2, 1932, to her parents George and Alicia (Killian) Christoph in Madison, Wisconsin.
Patricia was raised in Cottage Grove on the family farm. She attended Madison East High School and Graduated from Sun Prairie High School. She married the love of her life Leslie “Les” Nelson on November 4, 1950. Together they had 4 children. After moving around for Les’s military enrollment, they settled in Appleton in 1964 and Treeci went to college to become a nurse. She was an LPN for 32 years before retiring at 72.
In her free time and retired life, Treeci loved her roses. She has some bushes that are 50 years old! She loved to travel and spend time with friends and family having good conversations. She was fond of baking, especially her fudge nut bars and ranger cookies. She liked reading and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and loyal friend. She was also a person of strong faith.
She is survived by her children: Lori (Steve) Hammerseng, Bryan (Wendy) Nelson, Greg (Marion Kuether) Nelson, Alicia (Bob Kolodzik) Wildenberg; grandchildren: Tyler (KaSarah) Hammerseng, Crystal (Greg Martin) Flaherty, Amy (Kevin) Brooks, Stephanie (Billy) Post, Sam Vitrano, Anna (Jacob Chroge) Nelson, Cale (Haley) Wildenberg, Troy Wildenberg; great grandchildren: Owen, Faye, Vincent, Nora; sister-in-law Doris Stapelmann; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Les Nelson, siblings and their spouses: Jim (Elaine) Christoph, Georgia (Ray) Kurtz, Barbara Bless, Charlie (Margie) Christoph and brothers-in-law: Jack Dunn and Lloyd (Barney) Staplemann.
There will be a funeral liturgy at St. Joseph Catholic Church on March 14, 2025, 410 West Lawrence St in Appleton. The visitation will be from 9 am to 1030 am with a mass starting at 1030. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park at 130 pm.
