Patricia (Dietzler) Betters, 96, Kimberly, died on Saturday, February 27, 2021. She was born on October 16, 1924, to Steve and Clara (Recker) Dietzler in Appleton. A lifetime resident of Kimberly and member of Holy Spirit Parish. Patricia was united in marriage to Willard “Jess” Betters on December 29, 1951. He passed away on July 2, 1990. Pat was a 1942 graduate of Kimberly High School and graduated from Whitewater State Teachers College where she was a member of Theta Sigma Upsilon Sorority. She taught business education at Chilton High School from 1947 to 1952. After taking time off to have a family, she went back to teaching typing classes at Gerritts Junior High School in Kimberly, and Kimberly High School. After 23 years, she retired in 1985. Pat was active in the Ladies of Holy Name, where she served as president for six years. Pat was also a member of Kimberly Homemakers, the Mission Ladies, and the Monday afternoon craft bunch.
She is survived by her children: Mary Pat (Tom) Van Wychen of Kimberly, Roy (Linda) Betters of Buchanan, Bill (Jackie) Betters of Buchanan, Joe (Cindy) Betters of Kimberly and Heidi (Dan) Rowe of Harrison, grandchildren: Ryan (Kelli) Betters, Rebecca (Alex Nettekoven), Ben, Sam, Alicia, Brooke and Brady Betters, and Jessica (Cody Getschel), Holly and Jeremy Dercks, great-grandchildren: Landyn, Lily, Liam, Lucy, Lydia and Lawson Betters, Finleigh Betters, Kashton and Adaleigh Nettekoven, and Greta Getschel. She is further survived by her brother, Alan (Joyce) Dietzler of Kimberly, as well as nieces, nephews and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Cletus and wife Ruth Dietzler, brothers-in-law Art, Howard, Emil Betters, Maurice Brockman and sisters-in-law Marilyn Brockman, Ethel Brockman, Bernice Betters, Shirley Better, Phyllis Betters, Evelyn Vander Zanden, and Rose Hunter and a son-in-law Tom Van Wychen.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Patricia’s name may be made to Holy Spirit Grade School.
A funeral service for Pat will be held at 11:00 AM on, Thursday, March 11, 2021, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Kimberly. Friends and family may visit at the church from 10:00 AM until the hour of service. Please wear a mask and practice social distancing. A livestream of the service will be available at the wichmannfuneralhomes.com website through Pat’s obituary page. Burial will take place in Holy Name Cemetery, Kimberly.
Now that she is gone, many of the knitted slippers she made will still be walking around. She was always good for a smile and she endured years of pranks and jokes from her family. Pat will be dearly missed by countless friends, family and neighbors and all who held a special place in her heart. She also be missed by many former students who fondly remember her and the ”A A A” space mantra.
