Patricia Vander Heiden, age 70, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2006, at Franciscan Care Center. Pat was born in Neenah on August 17, 1936, daughter of the late Joseph and Florence (Handler) Wilfling, and on July 2, 1955 married Kenneth Vander Heiden in Appleton. Kenneth preceded Patricia in death on July 25, 1991. She was a charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Appleton. Pat enjoyed working crossword puzzles and word searches, decorating for the holidays, and traveling. Her most precious memories were the times shared with her grandchildren.

Patricia is survived by two sons: Ken (Jean) Vander Heiden, Appleton, and their children Heidy (Jesse) Rohan, Erik, and Cameron; and Keith Vander Heiden, Appleton, and his children Ryan, Adam, Travis, Keith Jr., Angelyca, and Stefany; two great-grandchildren: Audrie and Lydiah; three sisters: Nancy Heinzkill, Appleton; Sue (Tom) Luba, New London; and Becky (Bob) Landgraf, Kimberly; three brothers: Joseph (Bev) Wilfling III, Neenah; Jerry (Paulette) Wilfling, Nevada; and Mike (Esther) Wilfling, Kentucky; and three sisters-in-law: Linda Wilfling, California; Rose (Eldon) Vorpahl, Appleton; and Teri Vander Heiden, Nevada. Patricia is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, and a very special “grandchild”, Danielle. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother Tom Wilfling, a brother-in-law Frank Vander Heiden, and a sister-in-law Yvonne Vander Heiden.

Funeral services for Pat will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 1, 2006, at GOOD SHEPHERD LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2220 East College Avenue, with Revs. Martin E. Koeller and Timothy Seabaugh officiating. Interment will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, and again from 10:00 a.m. Friday until the time of services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society or to the Childrens’ Hospital of Wisconsin, Fox Valley.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to everyone at Franciscan Care Center, especially the caregivers on Unit 4. You made Mom’s stay as comfortable as possible and treated her as though she was your own. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
