Age 82, passed away at his home on August 24, 2004. Owen was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin on July 24, 1922, son of the late B.D. and Esther (Skaugstad) Reppert. He attended high school in Kenosha, and following a tour of duty with the United States Army during World War II, he enrolled at the Stout Institute. He received a Masters Degree in Industrial Education from UW-Stout, and continued his education long after his initial graduation. For seventeen years, Owen taught at Appleton High School, and after the construction of Appleton East High School, continued his career there for another seventeen years. He retired in 1984.
Owen held a private pilot’s license, and enjoyed flying, woodworking, photography, hunting, and fishing. Everyone will remember Owen as a master story teller, who always had a tale to tell or a story to share.
Owen is survived by his wife: Melinda Reppert of Omro whom he married in 1970; six children: Melia (W.Scott) Yankus of Thousand Oaks, California; Dale (Brenda) Reppert of Appleton; Scott Reppert of Appleton; Kathleen (Ken) Kaufman of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin; Mark (Cynthia) Reppert of Brookfield; and Rebecca (Chris) Klich of Appleton; 10 grandchildren; and a brother-in-law: William J. Brandenburg, Jr. of Des Moines, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by twin granddaughters, Rainey and Grace Klich.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate Owen’s life on Saturday morning, August 28, 2004, at 10:00 AM, at the funeral home. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM with Rev. Martin Ruge officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be directed to Affinity Hospice.
