Meinert, Norman A.
Norman A. Meinert, age 88, of Kimberly, formerly of Kaukauna, went to join his great grandson, Chase Baldauf, Monday afternoon, February 1, 2006. He was born July 29, 1917, to the late Oscar and Elsie (Wunrow) Meinert, in Kaukauna, where he was a resident most of his life. Norman served with the U. S. Navy, for four years, aboard the U. S. S. Essex, during WW II. Following his discharge he was employed by Thilmany Pulp and Paper Company for 44 years, retiring in 1983. Norman enjoyed calligraphy, golf, and watching many sports on television. He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, where he was baptized and confirmed, he was also a member of the Kaukauna Electric City VFW Post #3319, the Kaukauna American Legion Post #41, the Kaukauna Masonic Lodge No. 233 F & AM, the Heart of the Valley Senior Service Club and had been a former alderman and a Civil Defense Director. Norman is survived by his wife, Vivian E. (Kamps) Meinert, with whom he celebrated their 64th anniversary, on October 13; a son, Dennis Meinert, Kaukauna; three daughters, Noreen (Kern) Brogan, Alabaster, AL; Debbie (Bob) Moore, Winfield, IL; Mary (Rus) Maddox, Valrico, FL; ten grandchildren, Kristen (Mike) Baranski, Nathan (Nikki) Brogan, Raven Moore, Meredith (Kevin) Gipson, Greg Moore, Lonnie (Chad) Baldauf, Shelly (Tony) Verhasselt, Alex, Jordan, and Morgan Maddox; nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Faust and an infant brother, Norbert. Funeral services for Norman will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, February 6, 2006, at IMMANUEL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, 510 Sullivan Avenue, Kaukauna, with Reverend Melinda L. Feller officiating. A memorial fund is being established.
