Age 71, died on December 2, 2002 at Appleton Medical Center in Appleton. Nell was born on November 1, 1931, the daughter of the late Volney and Lillian (Nelson) Vassar. She married Eli R. Hogan on April 19, 1958. Nell was a member of The Waushara County HCE and the Busy Fingers Club. She loved to sew, Knit and do many crafts. She treasured her friends and all the children she babysat for and treated them like family members.
Nell is Survived by her husband, Eli R. Hogan of Coloma, WI; five children: Wendell (Peggy) Johnson of Derby, NY, Jeffery (Norma) Johnson of Auburn, MI, Gary Johnson and friend Debbie Thather of Milwaukee, WI, Kim (Melvin) Mravik of Portage, WI, and Cindy (Thomas) Foth of Adams, WI.; two daughters-in-law: Glenda Johnson, MI, and Beverley Lynch, NY; a son-in-law, Gary Gosenheimer of Marinette, WI; 12 grandchildren: Jeffery Paul Johnson of Saginaw, MI, Kathy (Bob) Vacone of Cheektowaga, NY, Elisabeth (Scott) Pytlak of Elma, NY, Rick Fowler and Shannon Fowler of Saginaw, MI, Tracy (Dan) Mulhern of Pardeeville, WI, Trina (Jeff) Simonson of Portage, WI, Samantha Mravik of Portage, WI, Bob (Shawna) Johnson of Derby, NY, Pat Johnson of Derby, NY, Maggie Johnson of Derby, NY and Kari Foth of Adams, WI; 11 Great grandchildren; four brothers, Volney Vassar Jr. and friend Florence of Florence, WI, Terry (Sue)Vassar of Rhinelander, WI, Jack Vassar and friend Judy of Florence, WI, Reynolds Makola of Iron River, MI; four sisters: Valeria Fraumeni of Iron Mountain, MI, Shirley (Russell) Peterson of Appleton, WI, Lois DuCharme Mena, AK, and Linda (Morris) Erickson of Norway, MI; two brothers-in-law, Raymond Anderson of Sussex, WI, and Clayton (Bernice) Hogan, and a sister-in-law, Bertrude (Neil) Kiedinger.
Nell was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters: Marion Anderson and Edna Woods.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, December 6, 2002, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Crystal Lake, WI , from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Allen Boeck officiating.
