Passed away peacefully on November 26, 2021 at The Heritage in Appleton at the age of 95. Neil was born on October 24, 1926 in Appleton, WI to Neil and Lucinda Bruch. Neil graduated from Appleton High School in 1944. Neil was joined in marriage to Lucille “Lucy” Kohanski on April 30, 1960.
After graduation, Neil worked as a machinist at Valley Iron Works before he was drafted in the US Army for two years. After his honorable discharge, Neil returned to Appleton and continued his career as a machinist for a total of 47 years.
Neil’s interests included a membership in the Appleton Pistol and Rifle Club where he won several awards. He was also an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed photography as a hobby.
Neil and Lucy enjoyed their time golfing and playing bridge. They also shared their love for polka dancing. Neil and Lucy traveled with various polka bands throughout the United States and Europe, including cruising the Caribbean. He loved music and would play his harmonica for family and friends around a campfire.
Neil is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Lucy, his daughter Lisa and many nieces and nephews.
Neil is preceded in death by his daughter Wendy, his parents, and sisters Fae (Bernard) Jahnke and Marge (Jim) Miller.
Neil’s family would like to thank the caretakers at the Heritage, ThedaCare at Home Care and ThedaCare at Home Hospice for their compassionate care for Neil.
Family funeral services for Neil will be held on Saturday December 4, 2021, at Wichmann Funeral Home, 1592 Oneida Street, at 11:00 AM. Family visitation at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the time of services. Private interment.
