Nancy Farnsworth
Age 70, died Wednesday, March 6, 2002 at home. Nancy was born April 4, 1931 to the late Gilbert and Theodora (Holling) Droegkamp in Wauwatosa, WI. She married William Farnsworth on April 24, 1954 in Wauwatosa, WI. Nancy graduated from Wauwatosa High School, trained at Milwaukee Children’s Hospital as an X-ray Technician and worked as a registered X-ray technician. Bill and Nancy lived for several years in Hartford, CT, before moving to Glen Ridge, NJ, then on to Brookfield, WI and from there to Appleton, where they lived for 23 years. In 1992, they retired to Butte des Morts, WI. Nancy was involved in many volunteer activities, including Brownie leader in the Girl Scouts, Meals on Wheels, Telephone Reassurance, Hospital Pink Lady and secretary of Winneconne Civic League. For over 10 years, she was the regional representative for the American Field Service, a foreign student exchange program. During that time, she was a host mother for students from Germany and Australia. Nancy was also an active member of the Oshkosh Area Parkinson’s Disease support group.
She is survived by her husband, William Farnsworth of Butte des Morts; a daughter and son in law, Elizabeth and Keith Vanden Wymelenberg of Madison; a son and daughter in law, William Jay and Denise Farnsworth of DeForest, WI; a daughter and son in law, Susan and David Eckerle of Madison: her grandchildren, Robert J. and Mary C. Eckerle and Madeline L. Farnsworth; a sister and brother in law, Patricia and Rudolph Neudek of Waukesha as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Nancy struggled for many years with Parkinson’s Disease and Cancer. She leaves a loving family and will be forever missed.
The memorial service will be 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 9, 2002 at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 724 East South River Street, Appleton with Pastor John T. McFadden officiating. Friends will be received on Saturday at Church from 1:00 PM until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
