Nancy Brown, age 81 of Appleton, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus at her home on Thursday, August 9, 2018. Nancy was born in Navarino on October 1, 1936, daughter of the late Walter and Carol (Hanson) Hillsberg. She became a child of God through Holy Baptism and was later confirmed at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Appleton. On July 2, 1955, Nancy married James K. Brown at St. Paul. The couple honeymooned at Niagara Falls. For many years, Nancy was employed as a professional secretary for AAL (Thrivent Financial).
Nancy was a longtime and active member at St. Paul, and served the Ladies Aid, LWMS, Ladies Guild, and YPS. She was also a member of the Wisconsin Association of Parliamentarians and the Professional Secretaries Association. Nancy loved to read and had many other hobbies, including gardening, quilting, knitting, and sewing. She used her gifts to benefit local charities by making baptismal napkins, quilts, mittens, and scarves. She also loved to travel, having been to such places as Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, Alaska, Hawaii, and Maine.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband: James “Jim” Brown; her daughter: Beverly (Steve) Falck; and a grandson: Jeremy (Amber) Falck.
The Christian Funeral Service for Nancy will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at ST. PAUL EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 302 N. Morrison Street in Appleton, with Rev. Kenneth Frey officiating.
