FILZ, MYRON H. “BUD”
Myron H. Filz, of Appleton, age 79, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at Cherry Meadows, after a courageous battle against an unforgiving illness. He was born on June 20, 1927 in Appleton, the son of the late Marvin, Sr. and Rosella Filz. Myron served in the U.S. Marines and two tours of duty. Myron received his first honorable discharge on October 31, 1946 after serving 14 months. He then re-enlisted on May 21, 1951 and was honorably discharged on May 8, 1953. On October 8, 1955 in Appleton, he married the love of his life, the late Carmen H. Filz. They enjoyed 46 years together.
Bud and Carmen loved antiques, and were often seen at various flea markets buying and selling their collectibles. They also enjoyed traveling with their son and daughter-in-law around the Caribbean. Through the years together, they had many dogs. But on of their most memorable ones was Kelcee, a Fox Terrier.
Myron retired at age 63, after working as a machinist for 40 years at Boliden Allis, formerly Allis Chalmers and Valley Iron Works.
He was a loving husband, father, brother, and uncle and will be dearly missed by his son Jeffrey (Cindy) Filz, his two brothers Merril “Sonny” (Wahneta) Filz and Marvin (Doris) Filz, his sister Deloris Cowan, and nieces and nephews. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Carmen and brother-in-law Robert Cowan.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 23, 2007 at TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 209 S. Allen St., with Revs. Kurt and Mary Beth Kovanen officiating. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. Friends may visit the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
Dad, we are not saying good-bye to you, because we will take you with us wherever we go.
Jeff and Cindy Filz would like to extend their deepest gratitude for all the loving care given by Dr. Guenther and his staff, the wonderful people at Cherry Meadows, and especially the nurses at the Oncology unit in Appleton Medical Center.
