Millicent I. “Millie” Mohr (nee Berge), age 98 of Appleton, WI passed away June 23, 2022. She was born in Seymour, WI to Guilford and Irene (Christianson) Berge on December 9, 1923. She graduated from Valders High School with the class of 1941 and went on to attend several years at St. Olaf University in Minnesota. She married the love of her life, James “Pete” Mohr on September 3, 1945 in Campbellsport, WI and together, they raised two wonderful daughters.
Millie was a real sports fan and enjoyed watching the home teams play like the Badgers, Brewers, and Packers. She and Pete loved tailgating and even attended the “Ice Bowl”. She especially loved golfing with her husband at Riverview Country Club. Millie enjoyed traveling with Pete and made some memorable trips.
Millie was an active member of her community, involved in many organizations and outreach groups. She was a long-time supporter of the Church Women United, serving as co-chair of publicity, co-president, and was in charge of decorations at the May Fellowship Day Breakfast for over 50 years. When she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Millie didn’t seek out leadership roles, but was a dedicated and willing worker, serving on the Altar Guild as a Communion Steward, serving funeral receptions and playing in the bell choir. In her community, Millie served as a volunteer at the Appleton Medical Center (Thedacare Regional Medical Center of Appleton), served meals at the emergency shelter for the homeless, was a member of the YsMenetts, delivered meals on wheels to those restricted to their homes, and gave many years of community service as a member of the King’s Daughters Circle. Due to all of this, she was proudly nominated by the Outagamie County Unit of Church Women United as the Valiant Woman of 2006.
Millie is survived by her two daughters, Junell Mohr and Marsha (Dave) Jensen; her grandchildren, Jeremy (Lori) Jensen, Casey (Leigh Banks) Jensen, and Whitney Jensen; her great-grandchildren, Emily Jensen, Brady Jensen, and Poppy Jensen; her brother, Oliver Berge; as well as many other nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
Millie is preceded in death by her husband, Pete Mohr; her brother, Lyle (Ellie) Berge; and her sister-in-law, Jeanne Berge.
