Age 85, died peacefully, surrounded by love, Wednesday morning, April 10, 2002. He was born October 7, 1916, to the late James and Ethel (Davis) Hanna, in Rockford Illinois. Miles had been employed by Combined Locks Paper Company for 21 years and then by Allis Chalmer, Voith Allis and Voith, retiring in 1996 as a consulting engineer. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he was a member of the building committee, a past member of the Appleton Elks Lodge and a member of TAPPI. Survivors include his wife Joanne (Sperry) Hanna, whom he married on April 15, 1939; four children and their spouses, Susan and James Perhai, Bloomington, IL; John and Mali Hanna, Honolulu, HI; Joel and Sally Hanna, LaCrosse; Timothy and Lynn Hanna, Appleton; 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Betty Hanna, Delavan, WI; two sisters-in-law, V. V. Hanna, Alexandria, MD; and Bea Hanna, Appleton. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Richard Michael Hanna and two brothers, Lowell and Robert Hanna. Funeral services for Miles will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, April 12, 2002, at TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 209 South Allen Street, with Reverend Ray M. Claussen officiating. Burial will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 pm Thursday and at the church on Friday, from 10:00 am until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established.
