Mildred Hollenback

Mickey Hollenback, age 85, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, February 12, 2006. She was born in Appleton on January 16, 1921, daughter of the late George and Wilhelmina (Meidam) Regenfuss. On May 22, 1947 she married Francis Hollenback; he preceded her in death on August 3, 1996. In her younger years, Mickey worked as a nurse and receptionist for a local physician, but most of her life was dedicated to raising and caring for her family. She was a member and past president of the Johnston Blessman Post #38 American Legion Auxiliary, the Harvey Pierre Post #2778 Auxiliary, and the Winnebago Detachment of the Marine Corps League.

Mickey leaves behind a son: Richard “Emmett” (Kathy) Hollenback of Shawano; four grandchildren: David (Diane) Hollenback of Appleton, Rikki Gipp of Chicago, Veronica Gipp of Shawano, and Frances Rylee Hollenback of Shawano; two great-grandsons: Anthony James Hollenback and Zachery Jacob Hollenback. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and some very special neighbors. Mickey was preceded in death by her parents, her son Frank Hollenback in 1991, her husband Frances Hollenback in 1996, a brother George Regenfuss in 1992, and infant twin sisters.

The funeral liturgy for Mildred will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC CHURCH, 500 W. Marquette Street in Appleton with Fr. Brian Belongia officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday (TODAY) after 5:00 PM at the funeral home, and again Wednesday morning at the church from 9:00 AM until the hour of the service. Visitation on Tuesday will conclude with a combined American Legion and V.F.W. Auxiliary memorial rite at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. The family has established a memorial fund in Mickey’s name.
