Mildred E. West

July 21, 1937 — January 29, 2021

Mildred “Mick” “Millie” (Mulroy) West, 83, of Appleton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on January 29, 2021 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. Mildred was the oldest of 10 children of Edward and Marie (Kroeger) Mulroy.

Mildred graduated from Hortonville High School in 1955. After high school she worked in the office at Kurz & Root where she met the love of her life, Roy West. They were married on April 30, 1957. Mildred was a stay at home mom for a number of years and went back to work in the early 70’s at St Elizabeth Hospital as a dietary aide. She worked there until her retirement in 2005.

Mildred was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Appleton. Before her husband Roy passed away in 1981 they enjoyed square dancing and round dancing and were active members in several area Square and Round Dance Clubs. She enjoyed going for walks, getting together with friends for lunch and any events (except shopping) with her family. She also enjoyed polka dancing and listening to polka music. She loved game shows, especially Family Feud.

Mildred is survived by her 2 children, Mark (Sheryl) West and Wendy (Tom Woeckner) Steward; her 3 grandchildren, Becky West, Kevin (special friend Sheri Phillips) West, Aaron Steward; 3 step grandchildren, Paige (special friend Matt Schmidt) Woeckner, Bryce Woeckner, Trent (fiancé Summer Schwartz) Woeckner. She is further survived by siblings, Ellen (Ed) Gregorich, Patricia (Jim) Wald, Michael (Susan) Mulroy, Elizabeth (Tom) Becher and Robert (Donna) Mulroy. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Judy Mulroy, Shirley Mulroy, Sue Mulroy and Nancy West, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Roy West; granddaughter Alyssa Steward; her father and mother, Edward and Marie Mulroy; her father-in-law and mother-in-law Albert and Minnie West; 3 brothers, Dick, David and John Mulroy; sister Joann Mulroy; brothers-in-law, Ray West, Elroy Aerts, Fred Hall; sisters-in-law, Helen (West) Hall, Rosemary (West) Aerts.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the extraordinary staff at Century Oaks Assisted Living and Heartland Hospice for their care, compassion and dedication for Mildred while she was living there.

Due to the current circumstances, a private Funeral Service will be held for Mildred at 5 PM on Thursday, February 4, 2021.  You may view the Livestream of the service by visiting this site on the day of the funeral.
