“Hunce”

Mildred Elizabeth (Fassbender) Gerharz, age 93, passed away at St. Paul Home on Thursday, May 7, 2009. She was born in Hollandtown on October 5, 1914, the daughter of the late Henry and Ida (Schultz) Fassbender. On October 5, 1933, Hunce married her loving husband, Lee Gerharz at St. Francis Catholic Church in Hollandtown. He preceded her in death in 1978. Hunce was a loving mother and devoted homemaker. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Hunce also enjoyed going up north to their cabin in Lakewood.

Hunce will be sadly missed by her children: Jim Gerharz of Anchorage, Alaska, Jerry (Ruth) Gerharz of Racine, Carol (Bill) Simon of Lindale, Texas, Susan (David) Schwartzbauer of Neenah; 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Stella Fassbender and Marie Fassbender. Hunce is preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Gerharz, granddaughter, Lynn Marie Gerharz, 4 brothers, 3 sisters and daughter-in-law, Bernice “Bunnie” Gerharz.

A Funeral Liturgy for Hunce will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 11, 2009 at St. Katharine Drexel, St. Mary Site, 119 W. Seventh Street, Kaukauna, with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
