Gerard “Mickey” Bell, age 82 of Greenville, passed away on May 21, 2023. Mickey was born in Marshfield on September 10, 1940, son of the late Melvin and Aneita Bell. On August 31, 1963, Mickey married the love of his life, Ginny. They resided in Marshfield for four years before making their home in Appleton. They spent 57 years together and raised 2 daughters before Mickey lost ‘his Ginny’ in September 2020.

Mickey was known by many as Trooper Bell, the State Patrol Officer (#321) that rode his motorcycle proudly for many years. When he wasn’t sharing stories and entertaining friends at his beautiful basement bar, he could be found in his workshop, constructing stunning cabinets, clocks, and other furniture pieces. If it was made from wood, Mickey could (and did) make it. Additionally, Mickey had a love/hate relationship with his Packers and usually watched the game in a separate room from Ginny, who was a loyal Cheesehead and cheered them on ferociously.

Mickey and Ginny traveled the world and had many friends. The home they built together was very important to them, as was their second ‘home away from home’, their condo at The Rushes, in Door County. Together they lived a modest, faithful life, full of laughs, Old Fashioneds, bowling, cards, and football. Mickey’s quick wit and lack of filter will be remembered and genuinely missed.

Mickey is survived by his two daughters: Tammi (James) Hawbaker of Appleton and Tracey (Patrick) Spampinato of Raleigh, North Carolina. His six grandchildren are: Mark Hawbaker, Sally (Ben) Check, Joshua Hawbaker, Rebecca Hawbaker, Sydney Spampinato, and Jillian Spampinato. Mickey also has one great grandchild, Alaina Mae Check. Mickey is also survived by his two brothers: Verlyn (Sally) Bell and Ron (Marcy) Bell and his sister Sharon (Jack) Caskey. Not to be forgotten, his furry ‘little buddy’ Skittles was also a very special part of Mickey’s family.

The funeral liturgy for Mickey will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception, located at N2385 Municipal Drive in Greenville.  Inurnment will take place in the parish cemetery at a later date.
