Age 19, died on Saturday, April l2, 2003. He was born on January 23, 1984 in Racine, Wisconsin to Thomas and Jane (Johnson) Route.

Michael was a 2002 graduate of Appleton West High School and attended the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, listening to music and the company of family and friends, particularly best friends, Drew and Ben. He cherished the annual family vacation in Boulder Junction and time spent at his grandfather's farm.

Michael is survived by his brother Christopher Route and his parents Thomas and Jane (Johnson) Route of Appleton. His maternal grandfather William Johnson and paternal grandparents Jerry and Audrey Route, all of Whitewater. His aunts and uncles Jeff and Laura Johnson of Whitewater, Cindy Route of Cedarburg, Jill and Bill Gruetzmacher of Grafton and Tom York of Delavan. His cousins Carrie Dampier of Lake Geneva, Marc Peterson of Saukville, Scot Peterson of Grafton, Bill Johnson, Katie Johnson and Jamie Johnson, all of Whitewater and his nephew Caleb Peterson of Grafton.

Michael was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Jeanine Johnson and aunt Anmarie York.

The Funeral Service for Michael will be held at Noon, on Thursday, April 17, 2003 at WICHMANN TRI COUNTY CHAPEL, with Rev. Dennis Episcopo officiating. The burial service for the family will be held at Richmond Cemetery, outside of Whitewater, Wisconsin. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 9 until 11:45 a.m. on Thursday, April 17.
