Michael “Mike” John Bennett of Appleton Wisconsin passed away on June 25, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Mike was born on October 7, 1950 in Appleton. Mike graduated from Appleton West High School and then served in the U.S. Army. Mike was joined in marriage to Ronda Berry on July 21, 1989. Mike was a loving husband, father, and uncle. He was greatly adored by his numerous nieces and nephews. Mike was employed at American Overhead Door and recently retired after 30 years of dedicated service. Mike loved all sports, especially coaching Little League with the Linwood and Kiwanis Divisions. He loved hot shaves with Marcus at Shear Chaos, eating at the 3rd Street Diner, taking long rides to Waupaca looking for deer, pontoon rides on the Chain with the VFW group, fishing, hunting, and spending time with family and friends. Mike enjoyed talking about the old days, and his story telling will be missed.
Mike is survived by his loving wife Ronda (nee Berry); sons Michael (Emily) and Matthew (Amy Cattelino), granddaughter Quinn Kathryn; siblings Cathy (Mike) Fane, Dennis (Peggy) and David (Mary), in-laws Pamela (Art) Keene and Bradley (Robyn) Berry, and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents Jake and Bea (Uhl) VanLinn, sister Debra Breitenfeldt and father and mother-in-law Charles and Kathryn (Freed) Berry.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 1st at Wichmann Funeral Home Tri County Chapel, 1592 S. Oneida Street, from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM. 5:00 funeral service with Pastor Tim Albrecht officiating. Military Honors to follow services. Mike will be laid to rest privately at a later date. Memorials to Lutheran Social Services Mindworks Program in Mike’s name are appreciated. Per Mike’s wishes, he chose to donate his organs to another family in need.
Mike’s family would like to extend a special thank you to all the surgeons, doctors, nurses, and therapists that have cared for him, especially Dr. Rigstad, Dr. Price, and Dr. Yazbak. Special thanks to Luther Social Services and the Mindworks program members Katrina and Kevilee; you will forever be in our hearts.
