Michael Bauman, 38, passed away surrounded by family on January 8, 2025. He was born November 19, 1986 in Livingston, Montana, to his parents William and Shirley (Bramald) Bauman.
Michael was raised in Montana until he was 12 years old at which time he and his parents moved to the Appleton area. He was homeschooled and finished his High School education in 2005. During High School, he worked at Club West and JD’s Drive In. After completing High School, he spent the next year preparing to join the United States Marine Corps. He bravely served his country from 2006-2010. When he was honorably discharged, he continued to serve his country through overseas contract security detail.
Michael was kindhearted and stoic. His Marine Corps commanders called him “The Gentle Giant”. During his time between contract duties, he would relax by reading, going to the gym, taking walks and watching the local birds and wildlife. Some of his favorite childhood books were The Hardy Boys series. As he grew older, he enjoyed books by Tom Clancy as well as nonfiction. He especially loved dogs; he would often dog sit for friends and he adored his family Boston Terrier, Chloe.
Michael is survived by his mother, Shirley, his sisters Kay (Steve) Stratton and Emily (Kevin) Fencl, his nieces and nephews Natalie Stratton, Ian Stratton, Tyler Fencl and Colin Fencl, and his goddaughter Liliana.
Michael is preceded in death by his father, William.
