Merlin John Immel, age 79, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton. He was born on June 1, 1930 in Appleton; son of the late John G. and Ida (Dalke) Immel, Jr. On April 14, 2007, he was united in marriage to Bonnie Schultz at St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church, Appleton. Merlin farmed with his parents and worked for 15 years at Cloud Buick as a mechanic until his parents health required him to stop work and care for them. Merlin was an avid Brewer and Packer fan, he also enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and taking care of his lawn. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Immel; his step-children, Daniel Immel, Diane (Daniel) Ciske and James (Sherri) Immel; four step-grandchildren, two step-great grandchildren; his brother-in-law, Lyle Rasmussen and his cousin, David (Nancy) Dalke. Merlin was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Jeanette and Elaine. Funeral services for Merlin will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at ST. MATTHEW EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 129 S. Mason St., Appleton with the Rev. Paul T. Schuler officiating. Family and friends may visit at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will take place in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. A memorial fund is being established in his name.
