Melvin Jensen passed away Sunday, December 31, 2006 at the age of 91. He was born in Suring, Wisconsin on August 25, 1915, son of the late Christ and Patrina (Olson) Jensen. On December 15, 1939, he married the former Ruth Traas; she preceded him in death on April 15, 2004. For over forty years, Melvin worked as a truck driver for a variety of employers in the area. Many will remember his love for woodworking, fishing, and watching wrestling on television. He was also a faithful member of First English Lutheran Church.
Survivors include three daughters: Judy (Sam) Elliott of Stephensville; Jean (Ned) Sutherland of Lake Geneva; and Jo Marie (Vern) Bellile of Hortonville; seven grandchildren: Barry Elliott, Terry Elliott, Beth (Alex) Hutson, Kurt Bellile, Kim (Dennis) Krull, Craig (Margo) Bellile, and Corey (Susan) Bellile; fourteen great-grandchildren: Shane, Jesse, Logan, Maggie, Conner, Madeline, A.J., Zachary, Ryan, Austin, Brandon, Rachael, Max, and Alexa; and a sister-in-law: Virginia (Stan) Allen of South Dakota. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, sisters Hannah (Curly) Grunwald, Agnes (Herb) Horstmeyer, and Nora; brothers Elmer Jensen, James Jensen, and Wesley Jensen; a grandson Tyler Sutherland; and a great-granddaughter Brittany Griesbach.
A private memorial service is being held to comfort the family, and Melvin will be buried beside his wife Ruth at Riverside Cemetery in Appleton.
