Melvin A. Timmel

Melvin A. Timmel, age 91, of Appleton, passed away on Monday September 23, 2013. He was born on March 30, 1922, in New London, son of the late Alfred and Regina Timmel. Melvin married Lucile Laabs in Omro on August 16, 1947, and the two spent over 65 years together.
Melvin proudly served his country in the US Air Force during World War II. He taught school in Omro for three years. Melvin also worked as a District representative for Thrivent Financial (formerly AAL) for over 30 years.
Melvin is survived by his loving wife, Lucile Timmel; three children: Douglas (Kathy) Timmel of Allentown, Pennsylvania; Donna (Jim) Wieseler of Hortonville, their children Jason and Mandie “AJ” and her son Austin; Dennis (Peggy) Timmel of Hortonville, his children Heather (Fiancé Eric) and his son Alec, Chelsea (Ross) Bongert and their daughter Ashlynn; his sister, Shirley Schwebs of Kissimmee, Florida; sisters-in-law: Antoinette Timmel of Appleton; Betty Laabs of Sarasota, Florida.
He is preceded in death by his two brothers: Ruben Timmel and Alfred Timmel Jr.
A funeral service for Melvin will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday September 26, 2013 at ST MATTHEW EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH (129 S. Mason St. Appleton). Pastor Schuler and Pastor Brandt will be officiating. A time of visitation will be held at church from 9:00AM until the time of service. Online condolences may be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com.
