Melchior "Melly" Knapp

Melchior “Melly” Knapp, age 14, of DePere Wisconsin, passed away unexpectedly with his older brother Patrick “Paddy” Knapp, on Wednesday November 25, 2020 in Kiel, Wisconsin. Melly was born in Appleton, Wisconsin on December 28, 2005. He was the youngest son of Patrick A. Knapp and Sara A. (Huberty) Knapp.

Melly is survived by his father, Patrick (Anne) Knapp of Kiel; his mother Sara (Marc) Knapp of DePere; two siblings, Gabriel “Gabe” Knapp and Scarlett Knapp, and three step-siblings; Chris, Erin and Allie. Melly is also survived by loving aunts and uncles, cousins, Grandma Joan, and Nana and Papa Knapp. Melly is further survived by his dogs Bubba and Baxter, and numerous dear family and friends.

Melly was a Freshman at Appleton West High School in Appleton.

Melly was an amazing eclectic and fun young man with an Old Soul. He loved going thrifting, especially with his siblings, collecting antiques and going to the Mid-Century Modern store. He had a poster of ‘The Fonz’, a rotary phone, old cameras, tube TV, 8-tracks and a record player. He had quite a few old cameras that were polaroid and 35mm and he would take tons of pictures, even if it was of a parking lot. He loved Hawaiian button down shirts, vintage clothes and even had a few leisure suits that he was very proud to wear, even to school. If he had to wear a tie, it was a ‘fun’ tie.

Melly’s great passions were old bikes and cars. He volunteered with his dad at the Kiel Car Club, and would go to Iola Car Show and Swap Meet every summer. Melly was very proud of his 1989 Pontiac Trans AM GTA that he couldn’t wait to drive and restore. He also had a banana seat bike and an old Schwinn bike he was excited to restore. Melly was very proud of his skills with steel wool and windex.

Melly was preceded in death by his Grandpa Irvin Huberty and his dog Rainey.

Melly Knapp was called home to heaven on November 25, 2020.

A memorial service for he and Paddy will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Menasha, the church of their baptisms.  The service will be live streamed at this site for those who cannot attend.
