Maxine T. Esther

Age 85, passed away Monday, March 24, 2003 at Park View Health Center in Oshkosh, following a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. Maxine was born October 25, 1917 in Kent City, Michigan, daughter of the late Walter and Emma (Carlson) Sprague. For many years, Maxine lived in Berlin where she was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the United Methodist Church. Since 1987 she had lived in Kaukauna and was a member of Peace United Methodist Church in Kaukauna as well as its Esther Circle and the Tuesday morning Bible Study Group. Maxine enjoyed camping with her family, going to her cottage on Roberts Lake, and attending her grandsons’ activities.

Maxine is survived by a daughter: Sally (Larry) McClelland of Kaukauna; two grandsons: Jeffrey (Charity) McClelland of Chicago and Matthew (Donna) McClelland of Kaukauna; a sister: Aleta Free of Grand Rapids, Michigan; two nieces: Cathola (Roland) Fahling of Conklin, Michigan and Sue (George) Egner of Oshkosh; a nephew: Ray (Jeanne) Sprague; two sisters-in-law: Betty Esther and Nellie Moore, both of Sparta, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Neil Esther, her brothers and sisters: Myrtle (Leighton) Dailey, Marjorie (Edgar) Chapman, Edmund “Pete” Sprague, Robert (Elsie) Sprague, Anna (Percy) Lane, Carl (Mildred) Sprague, Donald Sprague; her former husband Chester Esther; brothers-in-law: Howard Free, Vernon Moore, James Esther, Bernard “Bud” (Dorothy) Esther, Albert (Marie) Esther.

Funeral services for Maxine will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 27, 2003 at PEACE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 2300 W. Wisconsin Avenue in Kaukauna with Rev. Diane Rew-Gottfried officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Berlin. Friends may call directly at the church on Thursday from 1 PM until the hour of the service.
