Town of Vandenbroek
Age 96, passed away at his home on Wednesday, October 22, 2003. He was born in the Town of Vandenbroek on December 20, 1906 son of the late Theodore and Georgiana (Jansen) Weyenberg. On September 16, 1936 he married Louise Seegers in Darboy. She preceded him in death in 1946. He then married Virginia Kortz on November 27, 1948. They enjoyed over 50 years together and celebrated their golden anniversary in 1998. Matt worked at Thilmany Pulp and Paper for seventeen years. He then operated a dairy farm in the Town of Vandenbroek until his retirement in 1961. When he first operated the farm he raised bees and made his own honey. Following his retirement, he continued living at the farm. The Town of Vandenbroek recently celebrated their 100th Centennial Celebration and Matt was recognized as the oldest living person in the township.
Matt is survived by his wife Virginia, daughter; Marlene (Ray) Wildenberg of Freedom; grandchildren: Lynn Wildenberg, Mark (Kathy) Wildenberg, Gerald (Lisa) Wildenberg, James (Cheryl) Wildenberg, Jeff (Shelley) Wildenberg, and Amy (Dustin) DeWitt; great grandchildren: Christopher and Craig Wildenberg, Ryan, Rachel, Emily and Zachary Wildenberg, Hailee and Taressa Wildenberg; Eric, Brandon and Spencer DeWitt, Kaitlin and Trey Wildenberg, and Nicholas and Ashley Gerrits; brother, Henry Weyenberg of Little Chute; sisters: Dora Hogan of New Jersey and Hattie Fox of Little Chute.
Matt is preceded in death by his first wife Louise, great granddaughter Becky Wildenberg; brother, George (Clara) Weyenberg; sisters: Mary (Bill) Van Dera, Ann (Peter) Dercks, Rose (Chris) Vanden Heuvel, and Frances Weyenberg; brothers-in-law; George Fox and Clem Hogan; and sisters-in-law: Marie Dercks Weyenberg and Florence Weyenberg.
The funeral liturgy will be at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2003 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, Kaukauna with Fr. Jack Mullarkey officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the liturgy. Burial will be at Holy Angels Cemetery, Darboy.
