Formerly of Freedom, passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2001 at Good Shepherd Home in Seymour. Matilda was born in Freedom on July 11, 1910, daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Huven) Ebben. Matilda was married to Peter Van Den Bosch, and the couple operated an area dairy farm until 1971. Peter preceded Matilda in death on November 28, 1999. Matilda enjoyed crocheting snowflakes and doilies for friends and family members, and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a lifelong member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom and of the St. Nicholas Christian Mothers.
She is survived by four sons: John (Judy) Van Den Bosch and Henry (Mary) Van Den Bosch both of Seymour; Robert (Vy) Van Den Bosch of Freedom; Richard (Linda) Van Den Bosch of Appleton; six daughters: Wilma (Richard) Schumacher of Appleton; Mary Jane (Victor) Van De Loo of Hollandtown; Jean (Larry) Helein of Seymour; Rosie (Dennis) Roskom of Black Creek; Pauline (Bill) Garvey of Freedom; Shirley (Keith) Kerznar of Cedarburg; forty grandchildren; fifty-seven great-grandchildren; a son-in-law: James Schell of Kaukauna; two brothers: Bill (Helen) Ebben of Kaukauna; Hank (Rosie) Ebben of Green Bay; four sisters: Sr. Janet Ebben of Springfield, Illinois; Genevieve Ebben of Appleton; Margie (Ray) Heindel of Kaukauna; Dolly (Sylvester) Wavrunek of Pilsen; a sister-in-law: Mary Ebben of Kaukauna; a brother-in-law: Ervin Deprez of Phoenix, Arizona. Matilda is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and by many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Peter, by two infant daughters, a daughter Margaret Schell, a son Donald Van Den Bosch, a grandson Paul Van Den Bosch, by sisters Clara (Walter) Roepke, Frances Deprez, and by brothers Vince and Dick Ebben.
Due to construction at St. Nicholas Church in Freedom, the funeral liturgy for Matilda will be held at ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST CATHOLIC CHURCH IN SEYMOUR on Thursday, September 27, 2001 at 5:00 P.M. with Fr. Dennis M. Ryan officiating. Interment will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Freedom. Friends may call directly at the church in Seymour on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.
