Mathew H. Otto

Mathew H. Otto, age 66, of Appleton passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Matt conquered many cancers over the years, but eventually succumbed to FTD/PICK’s disease on January 25, 2025. He was born December 20, 1958 in Maryland, son of Lois and Darwin Otto. Matt married the love of his life Vonda Otto on September 28, 1991.

Matt retired from Neenah Foundry in 2021 after 42 years of service. Matt enjoyed riding his Harley, camping, and ice fishing. He also enjoyed socializing, whether it be his early morning coffee clutches with his McDonald’s buddies or around the fire with good friends at the campground; Wednesday night “date” night with his wife and good friends Billie, Gina, and other friends at Redliner; or playing a game of cribbage with Rick. Matt had a boisterous laugh and voice that could be heard wherever he went.

Matt is survived by his wife, Vonda; his son, Chadd (Charity) Otto of Greenville and daughter, Casey (Brody) Bostwick of Appleton; his grandchildren, Kody Otto (friend Morgan) and Aspen Otto (friend Payton); and great granddaughter, Nova Otto. He is also survived by brothers, Mike (Donna) Otto and Lyman Otto; mother-in-law, Nancy Underwood; sisters-in-law, Lorie (Lee) Torbeck and Julie (Mike) Schmelling; and many nieces, nephews, and step-siblings-in-law.

Matt is preceded in death by his parents Lois and Darwin Otto, sister-in-law Nancy Otto, father-in-law Norm Underwood, and stepfathers-in-laws.

A special thank you to all those who have been of support these past few weeks, and especially the ThedaCare Hospice team for all that they do.

A visitation will be held Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025 from 11 am – 1 pm, concluding with a prayer at Wichmann Tri-County Chapel, 1592 Oneida Street, Menasha.  Following that will be a Celebration of Life from 1:30 pm – 4:00 pm at Redliner Bar, 977 Plank Rd, Menasha.
