Age 73, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, February 21, 2003 at the Hospice at Cherry Meadows following an eight month struggle with cancer. She was born on November 16, 1929 the daughter of the late Dr. W.J. and Harriet Robbins in Florence, Alabama. She graduated from Vanderbilt University with an undergraduate degree in elementary education and then proceeded to the University of Alabama where she obtained her masters degree. She married William Vogler on June 5, 1953 in Florence, Alabama. Maryann was employed by American Can Co. for 11 years. Maryann enjoyed spending her retirement years traveling, gardening, quilting, excercising, and following her portfolio in the stock market. In addition to her hobbies, she volunteered at Bethesda Thrift Mart in Neenah. She was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church in Neenah. There were many important things in Maryann's life but foremost was her faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Maryann is survived by her husband William H. Vogler of Neenah, her children and grandchildren: Suzanne (Bill) Gierke and their children Maryelise, Caroline, and Claire all of Portage, MI; William F. Vogler of Placerville, CA; Harriet L. Vogler of Doylestown, PA, and Mary (Patrick) Burke and their daughter Sarah Jane of Westfield, New Jersey. Maryann was preceeded in death by her parents, and her brothers Drs. James an Robert Robbins.
A memorial service will be conducted on Tuesday, February 25, 2003 at 11:00 AM at Peace Lutheran Church, 1228 South Park Avenue in Neenah with the Rev. Terry Ahlmeyer officiating. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established for Peace Lutheran Church.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to all of the friends and neighbors who sent flowers and gifts and to the staff of the Hospice at Cherry Meadows for the excellent care they gave to Maryann.
