Mary Louise Lundquist passed away peacefully on October 22nd, at home with her loving husband at her side.
Mary Lou was born to Joseph (Bud) and Dorothy (Dahl) Huber on December 4th, 1941, in Ashland, Wisconsin.
She was her father’s daughter. She traveled with him to many area baseball and basketball games. In her school years she played backyard/pickup football and baseball with the boys and ice skating with the girls.
She graduated from DePadua High School, then she worked with her dad at the WATW radio station and worked at JCPenney in the Personnel department. After marriage to Gordon on July 27th, 1968, she transferred to JCPenney in Appleton where she retired as Human Resource Supervisor in 1999 after 37 years. She then finished her working career with M&I/BMO Bank Trust department working part-time during the winter months for 16 years, finally retiring in 2015.
On July 27th, 1968, she married the love of her life, Gordon (Gordy) Lundquist in Ashland, Wisconsin. They immediately moved to Appleton, Wisconsin where they resided in the area for all of their married life. Their love for each other found them doing everything together. Many of their travels were done on their Honda Goldwing as both of them loved motorcycling with very good friends to many states and Canada. She had no hesitation to getting on the bike (imagine trusting Gordy) and going to Door County just to get an ice cream cone at Wilson’s.
Mary Lou enjoyed ice and roller skating, playing the piano, tap dancing (50 plus oldsters), monthly card playing with four fellow retirees (more gossip than cards) and visiting the elderly. She was a very accomplished bowler with many 600 series to her credit. She was also a true Shop-A-Holick and fashionista. But her real passion was golf, which was a love-hate relationship. She was a member of Reid GC, Riverview CC (1 hole-in-one), and Ridgeway CC since 1986. She had the ability to play golf at a very high level but her passion was for her golfing family. She held each one in very high regards and always looked forward to being with them even when the golf was not up to her standards.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Gordy; siblings, John (Lynn) Huber in Pensacola, Fl, and Patricia (William) Waynert in Ashland, WI; several cousins, nieces, and nephews; and a great deal of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Jeanne, Carol, and Robert.
She was godmother to Kathy Rammer, Allison Melde, and Katlyn Sorensen. She was also the proud caregiver to four yorkies and one morkie, all very spoiled.
